8 Jul

For Immediate Release

NEW YORK - Disciples Now (, an online resource for Catholic teens, has launched a special summer feature called Songs in the Key of Justice, a music and social action microsite. It focuses on issues of advocacy, social justice and the many volunteer service opportunities that are available for young people.

In addition to both original editorial content and partner contributed content on key issues in social advocacy, Songs in the Key of Justice offers free weekly song downloads of well known Catholic pop and rock bands whose music embodies the spirit of social justice and features artists such as Ceili Rain, Last Day, John Angotti and the Christian band Poor Rich Folk. These songs can be accessed simply by registering for the site. Users can also upload videos of their summer service projects, share photos and talk with others in an online forum.

Songs in the Key of Justice also offers visitors free wallpaper, AIM and MSN instant message icons as well a badge for their blogs, MySpace page or personal Web site. Songs in the Key of Justice merchandise (such as T-shits, mugs, etc.) can also be purchased.

"Disciples has been a place that thousands of Catholic teens, youth ministers, teachers, and parents have come to rely on as a dependable resource for Catholic teachings and how those apply to the daily life of young people," said Sherry Raspa, co-founder and producer of Disciples Now. "In this tradition of Disciples Now, the site presents Songs in the Key of Justice as a destination where teens can find both important information about social justice and download music from their favorite Catholic music artists who practice what they preach. Songs in the Key of Justice shows that social activism this summer can be both rewarding and fun."
