Invitation to Friends of Sabeel Conference
Justice: The Path to Peace in Palestine/Israel

Sabeel, Arabic for “the way,” is an international ecumenical peace movement that includes Christians, Jews and Muslims. It was founded by Palestinian Christians in the Holy Land who “seek a just peace…as defined by international law and existing United Nations resolutions.
Honorary Co-Chairs: Most Rev. Michael J. Sheehan, Archbishop of Santa Fe; Albuquerque City Councilor Rey Garduno; and Prof. Les Fields, Peace Studies at UNM.
This event will bring together lecturers, writers, spiritual and civic leaders of all faiths and backgrounds from the U.S., Israel and Palestine who can speak about current conditions and who are committed to nonviolent activism for peace and justice in Palestine - Israel. A few of these renowned speakers include Sabeel Founder, the Reverend Naim Ateek, Palestinian Anglican Priest of Jerusalem; Jeff Halper, Israeli peace activist and founder of the Israeli Committee against Home Demolitions; Ali Abunimah, Palestinian-American journalist; and Miko Peled, well known Israeli peace activist, and Mark Braverman, Jewish Palestinian author and activist. A wide range of views on the history and impact of the conflict and strategies for achieving peace will be presented.
Friends of Sabeel are reaching out to our fellow citizens in Albuquerque, as well as local and national organizations, to join us in this endeavor.
