For Immediate Release

Scholarships available for early registrants

(Gettysburg, PA, May 31, 2012) — The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (Gettysburg Seminary) is now accepting registrations for a new concentration in its Master of Arts program in Religion and Media. The program offers one of the few Master’s level concentrations in Religion and Media from a mainline Protestant seminary in the United States.

Featured entry points for the study of “Religion and Media” are an August 2012 intensive introduction and a January intensive course featuring faculty from the New York based Odyssey Networks new media company.  The August course introduces the landscapes of media culture with an emphasis on active engagement in creation within those landscapes, and it also engages important theological issues raised in those landscapes. It examines how spiritual formation and theological reflection occur within media cultures, and raises questions around the promotion of faith in public life through media.

Those who submit applications for the Master of Arts in Religion with a concentration in Religion and Media prior to July 15, 2012, will be eligible for a scholarship that will cover the costs of tuition, room, and board during the two-week Keynote course August 17-31. Download application materials here: http://www.ltsg.edu/Prospective-Students/Application-Forms

Individuals may also audit the Keynote course on a non-degree basis. Please contact Julie Stecker, Associate Director of Admissions, at jstecker@ltsg.edu or 800-MLUTHER (800-658-8437), Ext. 2232, for auditing fee schedule or other information.

The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, the oldest of the eight seminaries of the 4.8 million member Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, prepares women and men to be outreach oriented public theologians and mission leaders.  It provides programs in continuing studies, advanced theological education, and specialized educational programs for informed lay persons, ordained and other rostered leaders, and high school youth.
