On July 11th, 2012 Fr. John Fogarty, C.S.Sp., Provincial of the US Province of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit was elected Superior General for the next eight years by the delegates of the 20th General Chapter assembled at Bagamoyo, Tanzania. Headquarters for the Congregation is located in Rome, Italy.
Father Fogarty was born on April 9, 1952 in Ireland. He professed his final vows on October 2, 1979 and was ordained to the priesthood on September 27, 1981. Fr. Fogarty is a graduate of the National University of Ireland where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1976 and of Fribourg University, Switzerland, where he obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Theology in 1982.
From 1982-86 he worked in parish ministry in the Diocese of Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa. From 1986-89 he was on the Provincial Council in Dublin, Ireland. In 1990-1994 he was Rector of Spiritan Institute of Philosophy in Ejisu, Nigeria and from 1994-1998 he served as Assistant Provincial in Ireland. From 1998-2004 he was stationed in Rome serving as First Assistant to the Superior General. In 2005 he was appointed Director of the Spiritan Center at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Fr. Fogarty was elected Provincial of the newly merged US Province of the Congregation in June, 2009 and re-elected Provincial for a second three-year term with effect from June 16, 2012.
With the election of Fr. Fogarty as Superior General, Fr. Jeffrey T. Duaime, C.S.Sp, First Assistant, will assume the role of Provincial of the US Province.

Fr. Duaime is a native of Philadelphia and was ordained to the priesthood June 14, 1986 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bensalem, PA. Previous assignments include work in Haitian missions, Director of Vocations, Administrator of St. Patrick/St. Stanislaus Church, Pittsburgh and Pastor of Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church, Arlington VA. He was appointed President of Holy Ghost Preparatory School, Bensalem, PA in 2002 where he continues to serve. During the Provincial Chapter of 2006 he was elected Provincial of the then US East Province of the Congregation to complete the mandate of Fr. James McCloskey who was appointed to General Council. Fr. Duaime was re-elected Provincial in 2006 and appointed First Assistant in 2009 and 2012 respectively. His three-year term as Provincial officially began on July 11. The Provincialate is located at 6230 Brush Run Road, Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
