Ever wonder about your church accounting?
National Church Administration Day guides churches through accounting principles
Richardson, TX – Don’t be unprepared – not knowing is not an excuse. All too often accounting procedures to ensure the proper documentation and handling of church funds is a mystery. Today’s churches need to stay informed and understand the laws that govern church accounting principles. NACBA’s National Church Administration Day (NCAD) is a way to improve your churches awareness of “Accounting Principles – Mechanisms To Manage Your Church’s Money”.
This year’s national day event will take place on October 18th. NACBA has partnered with several authoritative and distinguished resources to bring the most up-to-date information to its chapters and the communities in which they serve. Contributors to the days provided materials include: PSK, LLP, Batts Morrison Wales & Less P.A., Salmon Sims Thomas & Associates PLLC, DaVee CPA and Capin Crouse LLP. Plus, many local chapters of NACBA have reserved respected speakers to present and answer your questions.
NACBA is committed to its mission “to serve the church by promoting the highest level of professional competence in individuals serving Christ through administration in local churches”, during this year’s National Church Administration Day.
Sponsored by the National Association of Church Business Administration, NCAD is an opportunity for congregations to celebrate and honor the work of the nation’s church administrative leaders. The local NACBA chapters around the country will host instructional events. The local NACBA chapters are focusing on inviting the administrative church leaders in their communities.
The idea behind National Church Administration Day is for seasoned church leaders to share their expertise with anyone – whether clergy or laity – performing administrative duties in any congregation, with the goal that all churches become more effective and responsible.
“Church administrative leaders have a lot of responsibility, so having a network with which to share best practices is invaluable,” said Phill Martin, Deputy CEO of NACBA.
This year NCAD will offer professional advice on the five focus areas of accounting principles:
• Budget & Planning - e.g., examples of what and who should plan your church budget
• Reporting – e.g., learn how and what to report
• Internal Controls– e.g., receive information on how to monitor and control
• Audits – e.g., be equipped and ready when an audit takes place
• Performance Measures – e.g., evaluate your procedures and learn how to be better
The accounting principles module is designed for a minimum of a one-hour presentation by local chapter leaders during the three-hour National Church Administration Day celebrations.
