Romney, #eastwooding, and The Simpsons (really!)

Damn you Simpsons!
Why must you prefigure everything in life?
Why did you think of an old man yelling at a chair, but now doing it on the highest and most visible of stages, the Republican National Convention?

"The Simpsons already did it!"  Indeed....

How did The Simpsons know just how loony Republicans are going to get, even having once-proud but now dazed/confused actors #Eastwooding, ranting at...an invisible chair? grin

Yup, in case you were sleeping last night, there was one of the proud actors of the last forty years, having a total Mel Gibson moment.

It was a combination of funny, sad, amusing, and nonsensical, watching Clint Eastwood having a rambling conversation with… a chair.

The chair was supposed to represent President Obama.
The Obama campaign, not missing a beat, responded with a simple but powerful Tweet:   “This seat’s taken.”

And poor, poor Mitt.  Outdone by Obama, even when Obama is invisible (and not really there).

  1. I believe Mr. Eastwood knew exactly what he was doing.  He is a consummate performer, and a very intentional individual.  It is shameful how the left have responded in a patronizing way with comments that he’s just “old,” “washed up,” even “senile.”  Talk about agism….. and…...from the left.  When the 95%+ comics make traditional people the butt of their often caustic and crude jokes, the left laugh it off pointing fingers at traditional people and say it is well deserved, but when one very respected performer jokes about Obama, well that’s an abomination.  No, Mr. Safi, Mr Romney wasn’t “outdone” by Mr. Obama.  Mr. Eastwood was funny, and made some light hearted comments about the sad truth of Mr. Obama’s failures and inconsistencies.  Sorry you didn’t get it, unfortunately I find left leaning folk often humorless when the jokes are on them…
